Norton Company
Description:
A Wealthy Brazilian businessman named Wilson Santos, establishes Norton West Africa Company [named after James Norton, who established the first Brazilian Fort in Africa]. The company comes into ownership of most of the forts and missionaries in O Golfo de Santa Maria da Conceição [Shortened to Conceição] and establishes a settler program.
Many Brazilians are recruited to settle in Conceição, with land being sold cheap. In 1870, after small encroachments by the British, Santos requested Imperial protection from Pedro II.
