Balboa was born on 1475, in Jerez de los Caballeros, Spain. He was sponsored by King Ferdinand of Spain. He was motivated to find the Pacific Ocean and did so by going through the area today known as the Panama Canal. He went to Panama, the Pacific Ocean, and Hispaniola. He accomplished being the first European to see the Pacific Ocean. An interesting fact is he was beheaded by Pedro Arias Davila on January 15, 1519 in Alca.Added to timeline:
