mar 24, 1663 - Carolina Charter

Description:

In the year 1663, the Carolina Charter was granted to only eight English noblemen, Proprietors, by the infamous King Charles II. The Proprietors sought to establish a colony of their English ancestry and heritage in the United States, where they would practice their Christian religion and teach it to others so those people become one of them. The Englishmen also plan to build many churches and chapels to aid in the spreading of their religion. The colony was named the Province on Carolina, and had an established government, laws, and many powers given to the founders of the colony.

The establishment of a new colony, from scratch, is a significant event and should be noted as so. With Christianity being the dominating religion in the United States, this establishment is especially important. This colony is where the first Christians in the US came from and the reason the religion is the way it is today. A foundation was set for Christianity with the establishment of this colony. Just as any other colony, trade was a major industry that was relied upon by its people. Many material goods were imported and exported to and from different countries. This colony is where our 12th state, North Carolina, was established – November 21, 1789.
