The Niagra Movement was a movement founded by W.E.B. DuBois and William Monroe Trotter, that was focused on black civil rights. The first meeting of this movement was held near Niagra Falls and was named for the "mighty current" the group wanted to cause. They opposed the Atlanta Compromise and were strongly against Jim Crow laws and discrimination in education and employment
