aug 1, 1839 - Theodor Schwann- In 1839, a German botanist reached the conclusion that plants and animal tissue as well is composed of cells. He also pulled together and organized previous statement on cells into one theory, which states: that first, Cells are organisms and all organisms consist of one or more cells and second, the cell is the basic unit of life for all organisms.
