jan 20, 1953 - Inauguration of Dwight D. Eisenhower
Description:
Eisenhower's foreign policy is often characterised by 'Brinksmanship' or the idea that by taking the world to the brink of nuclear war one can stop major conflicts. In Korea, for example, Eisenhower threatened North Korea and China with 'the entire force of the US Nuclear Arsenal' unless they signed the Korean armistice, which they did. Eisenhower also expanded the Truman doctrine entering agreements with China, Central American Countries and supporting South Vietnam
