jan 1, 1098 - Hildegard of Bingen (1098 - 1179)

Description:

Hildegard of Bingen was a German Benedictine abbess, writer, composer, philosopher, Christian mystic, visionary, and polymath.
She created at least sixty-nine musical compositions, which range from antiphons, hymns, and sequences, to responsories.
Her music was monophonic, and melismatic; incorperating soaring melodies. However, it lacks any indication of tempo or rhythm.
