Description:
It was/is one of the Spanish missions built to keep and colonize. A reason that it was built was to convert the local American Indians to Christianity. After time the mission became a community of Spanish, Mexican, and American Indian Catholics. At the time of the Texas Revolution, Texan soldiers defended The Alamo against the Mexican army. Their defeat was a mark for Texas independence.
