oct 27, 1919 - Treaty of Protection Signed
Description:
The Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont once united all of Italy under its banner. However, this was not to last, as the House of Savoy picked the wrong side in the Weltkreig and lost their crown. The Italian Federation that followed was already a humiliation, but the loss of Piedmont and Liguria to Syndicalist armies meant that the Kingdom was de facto to be based on Sardinia for a long time. The many exiles, royalists and refugees arriving in the island were met with curiosity and suspicion, but fear of a Syndicalist naval invasion loomed hard. Thus, a treaty of protection was signed with France, and Sardinia became a member of the Entente, and firmly under the sphere of influence of Algiers.
