jan 27, 1855 - Seatco Folk Tale
Description:
According to the Chehalis and Crow First Nations people, the Seatco (night people) are hairy giants of the mountains and looked like people but bigger and hairier and did'nt do "civilized" things like make fire or speak, instead they whistled and whooped for basic communication. A Chehalis folk tale goes that a group of Native Americans captured a Seatco boy, they witnessed how this boy was hairy, nocturnal and captured fish and hunted deer, the Seatco eventually came to retrieve their boy. Their whistling scared the Native American people away, leaving the boy unattended. The boy then reunited with his family and the Seatco were not seen by these Native Americans again.
