jun 9, 1940 - Belgian Congo revolts

Description:

The Belgium government flees to the Belgian Congo after the fall of the country. However a nationalist movement led by Patrice Lumumba captures all of the officials that fled to the Congo. Most are killed including Hubert Pierlot, Leopold III of Belgium, and Pierre Ryckmans. Pierre himself was killed by a group of natives on his way to meet the new government in exile. Victor Van Strydonck de Burkel was allowed to live as the new Congo government needed a strong military advisor.
