aug 3, 1841 - Prison Reform Starts
Description:
One day in 1841 (I couldn't find the exact day) Dorothea Dix went and taught Sunday School at a prison. What she saw astounded her. She was motivated enough to start a reform of prisons and asylums. It was a social movement, and it was successful. Because of her work, the mentally ill are treated in asylums instead of being thrown in with other prisoners, and children are separated from adults and dangerous criminals.
