Description:

Two writers from the Des Moines Register decided to write a series of articles while riding bicycles across Iowa, and they invited the public to join them. 114 people made it across the state in an event called The Great Six-Day Bicycle Ride (later renamed the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, or RAGBRAI). The ride has gone on to attract national media attention and even to include famous cyclists like Lance Armstrong and Greg LeMond.
