On this day, Hitler orders Heinrich Himmler, chief of the SS with providing the "final solution to the Jewish question". This is when the policy of mass extermination began to be implemented, with the production of extermination camps and Jewish genocide beginning in existing concentration camps.Though it could be argued that if Hitler had died maybe this wouldn't have occured, the force of antisemitism was strong in Germany, and all Hitler's inner circle, those that could have replaced him, were just as antisemitic as him.
The path of the Jewish people was set by this point, and Hitler's death now would have been too late to save them.
