nov 8, 1923 - Beer Hall Putsch
Description:
On this day, Hitler lead the Nazi party in an attempt to overthrow the Bavarian state government. He forced Bavarian leaders at gunpoint to show public support for his cause and then took to the street to rally people's support.
In this march, the Nazis had a conflict with the state police, leading to 14 Nazis and 4 police officers killed. Hitler being at the forefront of the march could have easily been one of the people killed.
If Hitler had died today it would have been a serious blow to the Nazi party. The Nazis gained much awareness from this event, making it to national news, and in years to come Hitler would celebrate it as an example of the strength of the Nazi party. It would be impossible to portray this story of party unity and strength if their leader and best asset had died that day, and it is very possible that from that point the Nazis would have faded into obscurity.
