jul 15, 1921 - Hitler Leads Nazi Party
Description:
In July of 1921, Hitler threatened to leave the Nazi party. Desperate not to lose Hitler's skill in public speaking and negotiation, the members of their party agreed to elect him as party leader if he would stay.
If Hitler had died before this point, Anton Drexler would have remained head of the Nazi party. Considering how even Drexler admitted that the party "could not do without their leading public figure and spokesperson [Hitler]" it is unlikely the party ever would have been as successful without him. Before Hitler, the party was simply a minority fringe group, but Hitler organised its first meeting with over 2,000 people and began to get the ball rolling on its popularity.
