nov 15, 1921 - Munich Beer Hall Melee
Description:
On this day Hitler was making a speech at the Hofbräuhaus beer hall (pictured). In the audience was both supporters of the Nazi party and his ideological enemies (communists and social democrats). His speech angered his opponents who started a drunken brawl. In the mayhem, unknown assailants began pistol fire on the speakers podium.
By complete luck Hitler missed all the bullets flying his way, surviving without injury.
The sudden death of such an important party member could have easily crushed the small and fringe Nazi party, meaning they never would have come to power. By surviving those shots, Hitler lead history down a very different path...
