mar 19, 1915 - Italy declares neutrality

Description:

Italy was not invited to Edirne and indeed was to be dealt with in a very different way. Italians clamored for war to retake supposedly lost Italian land, to reclaim the Adriatic for their own. But the Italian government was hesitant to stand as the lone Western front of a coming great war and indeed was hesitant to push a line that stood in contrast to both Britain and Germany. And so Italy remained in limbo, always on the brink of being pushed to war by their own citizenry but would, in the end, remain unscathed by the war.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, due to this move, Italy soon fractured as the public denounced the cowardly government that had " led the nation to death before it had even the chance to fight", this perception, known as the Betrayal of the Patricians is what many historians blame for the rise of National Syndicalism.
