aug 5, 1914 - Ottoman Empire declares neutrality in the Edirne Accords

Description:

On July 10th,1914 the ambassadors of Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria all met in the the city of Edirne for the purpose of keeping the peace in their respective spheres of influence. Though of course the inclusion of the Bulgarians, who had already openly begun to mobilize did not appear promising. Regardless, the summit was a success and by August 5th, the following provisions had been made

1.The Ottoman Empire would remain neutral in the coming conflict in exchange for continued support from both the British and German Empires.
2.The Bulgarians would be allowed to begin a campaign to retake parts of stolen Bulgarian land from the Serbians, and these gains would be protected by German allies.
3.Germany would agree to not harm any British shipping and to a later naval summit so long as Britain continued to hold publicly and legally neutral.
