jun 30, 1884 - Jacko
Description:
In June 30th 1884 near the Fraser River in British Columbia, railroad workers from Lytton found a "monkey-man" who appeared somewhat frail. They through a net over it as the creature screamed "like a child" and put it in a cage. They took the animal to Kamloops and used it as a tourist attraction after nursing it back to health. The animal refused to eat human-made food and only ate vegetation and raw meat. The animal was 4 ft 7 inches tall, 127 pounds and appeared to be a juvenile, covered in black hair and had an "eerie humanlike face". In 1886 it escaped by knocking it's cage over and ran away, to be found a couple hours later and was shot by a hunter. The unnamed hunter called the mounties and the mounties took a photo and left the bizzare animal.
