dec 8, 1900 - Immigration and slavery influences.

Description:

While the English language had previously picked up terms from the Native Americans due to English-speakers immigrating, it also began expanding due to immigration from other countries including Italians, Russians, Austro-Hungarians.

As immigrants poured into the Americas, so did new terms and language influences.

Later, Spanish and French words would continue to be pulled in to English.

Pidgin was created by slaves who were forced to come to the United States. Jamaican Creole, Carribean, etc. also stemmed from slavery.
From these same roots come more modern hip-hop lingo, Black American English, and street slang.
