It’s the second week of uni and you’d think that by now we would have our lives in order. Today’s rehearsal came close to being cancelled, with everyone busy or away until the last minute when it all just happened. While Ben and James usually travel together, as well as Sabrina and Dorothy, this time Dorothy went out to Brunswick to pick up James and Ben found himself in Forest hill chase picking up Sabrina. Zac and JB couldn’t bear to be apart so they travelled together again.
It was the first time travelling outbound for the rehearsal was done in darkness. While this may have had something to do with the ominous winter approaching, it was more to do with the fact that we were so late getting off the ground to begin with that it was inevitable. Ben and Sabrina took a turn too early and ended up in the middle of nowhere (lost and afraid). A call to Zac on JB’s phone via Ben’s phone made by Sabrina put the two back on track and soon we had unlocked the achievement [Proper rehearsal]: Rehearse with all band members present.
This was the first rehearsal we had everyone present for, which is both pretty amazing and pretty pathetic. We played Fix you and recorded it, and talked about playing the other songs that we had gone there to play. The additional person present in the rehearsal had increased the assembly size by 20% but reduced efficiency by the same amount. Based on this information it appears the efficiency of our rehearsals follows a linear negative correlation with the number of members present. Future rehearsals are required to increase sample size and interpolate data which will be used to determine pearson’s r for this relationship. Relevant tests assuming sufficient statistical power will indicate the optimum number of players for our rehearsals and I estimate it to be around 5.3
We finished after midnight and travelled back home at120km/hour safely.
