jul 16, 1796 - The Treaty of Paris is signed with the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy in France and Louis XVII takes the throne. The Duchy of Lorraine also gains its independence. However, only some generals and politicians of the Republican army agreed to sign the treaty, and those who oppose it continue to fight. Spain, Britain and Prussia back out of the war whilst Austria continues fighting.
