aug 18, 1882 - Whigs form
Description:
Despite the general distaste towards parties in early Confederate politics, Longstreet's desire to accumulate and hold on to power within his administration and his technically second term meant he needed a way to form patronages and favours which could extend to a party basis. Longstreet also mandated a strict means which parties could have a legal basis in the CSA, making it nearly impossible for another to arrive which could challenge the Whigs.
