French Togoland Representative Assembly election (ART) were replaced by the Territorial Assembly elections (ATT)
Successor to the
Assemblée Representative du Togo, the ATT was established in 1952 with enlarged powers and with delegates elected for the first time under a single electoral college. See DOUBLE ELECTORAL COLLEGE. The enlarged electorate and active French support for northern and conservative political groupings shattered the former legislative supremacy of Sylvanus Olympio and his Comité de l'Unité Togolaise.
