Description:

The full range of items produced by cutlers. 1488 <i>except bladesmythes that makes cutler ware</i>, York (YRS103/36). An arbitration award of 1628 referred to <i>the makers of knives, sickles, sheares and scissors, and other cutlery wares in Hallamshire</i> (HCC25). The term did not then include forks and spoons as it now does.
