A labourer employed to carry kids. 1477 <i> Et quod laboratores istius civitatis … videlicet, kidberers, garthyners, erthewallers, </i> York (SS125/188). These men were in a guild which included sledmen and porters, and their ordinances for the period 1476-87 say <i> that every kidberer … from hynsfurth yerely shall paie unto the sustentatacion of iiij torches … in the procession of Corpus Christi ijd, </i>York (YRS106/185).
