jan 1, 1465 - blod
Description:
A word used of fabrics which had the colour of blood. I have found no reference to this usage but the term occurs quite frequently in early wills, especially in connection with fur and other clothing accessories: 1391 unam togam de blodio fururatam cum gris, Harewood (SS4/151); 1433 unam togam de blodio furratam, York (SS30/24); 1452 1 lectum de blodio worsted cum j tapeto ejusdem, cum celour et tribus cortinis de blodio (SS30/162); 1465 ‘To Elias Crawshagh a gown blodii coloris’, Heptonstall (Clay13).
