A drain or water channel. 1410 ‘all others who are bound to cleanse a <i>water lode </i> leading from <i>Hesilplace </i> to the <i>Kelder </i>’, Methley (Th35/168). In 1524 the mayor and council of York wanted the name of a certain place mentioned in their charters to be corrected: <i>to calle yt Marslande where as yt is Marselode </i>(YRS106/101).Added to timeline:
