jan 6, 1919 - Spartacist Revolt

Description:

The Spartacists (extreme left wing communists), led by Luxemburg and Liebknecht, called for a strike and uprising due to the sacking of the popular Berlin police chief.

They seized the government's newspaper and telegraph offices in Berlin.

Ebert made an agreement with the right-wing Freikorps (armed veterans) to drive the rebels off the streets. After 10 days, Luxemburg and Liebknecht were killed and the communist rebellion was suppressed.
