Description:
He was appointed shogun by the emperor and established his government in Edo (Tokyo).
As shogun, he redistributed the gained land among the daimyo. The daimyo were also required to spend every second year in Edo. Ieyasu continued to promote foreign trade and established relations with the English and the Dutch.
The Tokugawa shoguns continued to rule Japan for 250 years.
