apr 1, 1967 - First Family protection from Black Panther Party

Description:

On April 1st, 1967 in North Richmond, California, Denzil Dowell was supposedly shot dead by armed policemen in the back with one shotgun wound. The actual report said he had six bullet wounds from an attempted robbery and the police reports had been lying. The Black Panther party was instituted in the neighborhood to protect the African Americans and the Dowell family. It was important because it led to the creation of a community that would protect each other even if it meant using intimidation because the way they were being treated was so unfair.
