jun 19, 1953 - Rosenberg Trials

Description:

After years of communism scare spreading throughout the United States, the HUAC and McCarthyism were working to shut down communist activity. The Rosenberg trials epitomized that shutting down by the government when Ethel and Julius Rosenbergs were brought to trial for being involved in communist activity, supposedly spying for the USSR and passing nuclear secrets, but treason could not be charged because they weren’t at war with the USSR. In the end, the Rosenbergs were sentenced to death on June 19th, 1953 and they were given a plea deal, but refused.
