Description:

The Berlin Airlift was an attempt by the allied countries to bring in supplies to the newly shut off city of Berlin. The USSR had shut off all railroads, roads, etc. to get into the city of the Berlin. Lasting from June 24, 1948 – May 12, 1949 the airlift brought in supplies for the starving people inside of the Soviet occupied Berlin and aided them in anyway possible. The USSR troops weren’t allowed to interfere with the planes in any dangerous manner or else it would be considered an act of war. This event showed the hostilities between the Allies and the USSR that would further developed.
