Description:
The Warsaw Act was inspired by NATO and the admission of West Germany into NATO. The Warsaw Pact created defense among the members involved, in case of enemy attacks. It was created as a balance of power, and in response to Germany being added into NATO. The soviets saw that as a threat. This lead to hostility between the U.S and the Soviet Union, and it created a competition between the two which led to incidents like the U2 Spy Plane.Added to timeline:
