jan 1, 1865 - Black Codes

Description:

These were laws that were passed to discriminate against African Americans. The people who made the laws were from the new Southern members of Congress. President Johnson vetoed many proposed laws on helping the former slaves that were now free. The Black Codes made in the South were made to depress the African Americans of their rights because the whites felt superior.
