Description:

It abolished slavery in all of the United States. Many people changed their ways of living, and moved to different parts of the country. What caused this to become an amendment was the Battle of Gettysburg and the outcome of the civil war. The southern economy had collapsed with all the cheap labor gone, and many farms were left deserted.
