Description:

Between Israel and Syria there was a UN De-Militarised Zone by the Sea of Galilee. It was an area of fertile land which the Israelis frequently sent tractors to to annoy the Syrians in the Golan Heights.

This time, an Israeli tractor was fired upon by Syrian troops in the Golan Heights. In retaliation, Israeli planes attacked them and Syrian villages were hit.

Syrian fighter jets were sent in to fight, but 6 of them were destroyed and the remainder were chased back to Syria's capital, Damascus. Syria was humiliated while Israel's air force was shown off.

The Dogfight increased the tension in the Middle East, and is seen as a contributory factor to the Six Day War.
