jun 30, 1982 - Equal Rights Amendment Failed Ratification
Description:
After the amendment was passed in Congress, it was sent to the states for ratification and it needed to get an 3/4ths majority, which was 38 states. By 1977, 35 states had ratified it and despite the fact that Congress extended the deadline to 1982, it still came three states short of ratification. They are still working to ratify the bill in 38 states, Illinois being the last one to ratify it on May 30, 2018, being the 37th state. Though women were discouraged that this did not pass in the states, it didn't end their fight for their rights, which can be seen in their next legislation.
