mar 22, 1972 - Equal Rights Amendment Passed

Description:

This amendment was originally written in 1921 by Alice Paul and Crystal Eastman, but did not get ratified by Congress for 51 years. The basic idea of the amendment was to guarantee equal legal rights for all people not dependent on sex. When it was written in 1921 it got the conversation started, but there was not enough support to pass the law until another wave of the feminist movement in 1972.
