jun 23, 1972 - Title IX
Description:
This amendment was put into place as a follow up to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 because that act outlawed discrimination in public places and employment, but it still allowed for discrimination in schools. This ultimately applied to mostly collegiate and high school athletics and allowing girls to play sports that only boys were originally allowed to play. After all the progress that they had been making, it seemed like things were looking up, until their next piece of legislation failed in the states.
