Description:

This was the first time that an artificial satellite was successfully launched into space by the Soviet Union. With this huge technological advancement launched the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union that lasted all throughout the 1960’s and into the 1970’s. It also lead to the foundation of NASA, which is a large organization that still exists in America today and has lead to numerous technological advancements, especially in space.
