The Greensboro sit-ins were a series of nonviolent protests. The point of the protests was to integrate restaurant countertops. The number of demonstrators continued to grow and spread to different restaurants. With the help of the SNCC thousands of students across hundreds of cities participated in the sit-ins. These sit-ins brought African American students into the fight for civil rights. These sit-ins are the reason that so many protests occur on college campuses present day and are mostly made up of young people.
