nov 29, 1975 - The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
Description:
The parents of children with disabilities had to fight for the rights of their children to go to school. Before 1975, schools were not required to provide education to children with disabilities. Many children were forced to live in institutions in order to be taught. Others just stayed at home and did not have opportunities to learn or be with other children. The IDEA guarantees the rights of all children with disabilities to go to the same schools and be part of the same classrooms as children without disabilities
