Finally the disabilities movement gained momentum. People began to fight more vigorously for the The Americans with Disabilities Act. There were rallies and marches in Washington DC and cities all over the country. Over 40,000 letters were sent to senators and congressmen urging them to support the act. The voices of people with disabilities were heard. President George Bush signed the act into law on June 26, 1990, making the world a much better place for people with disabilities.
