Description:

Representatives from the United States, the Soviet Union, the People’s Republic of China, France, and Great Britain gathered in Geneva, Switzerland in April 1954 to try to resolve several problems related to Asia. In July 1954, The Geneva Accord was settled. According to the agreement, the French would withdraw their troops from North Vietnam, Vietnam would be temporarily divided at the 17th parallel, and elections would be stalled for two years. During that two-year period, no foreign troops could enter Vietnam.
