jul 12, 1948 - Truman doctrine
Description:
The Truman Doctrine was part of the containment strategy. The Power of Britain was waning meaning that they could no longer support the Greeks in the civil war and that therefore a communist government would replace the monarchy that was present. In response, Truman ordered that is was the responsibility of Americans to help those who face subjugation. The Truman Doctrine provided money to both Greece and Turkey in hopes of eliminating the communist threats.
