Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15th, 1929 and was shot on April 4th, 1968 by James Earl Ray. On the day of the assassination, King was staying in room 306 in the Lorraine Motel in Memphis when he went out to the balcony and was struck at 6:01PM by a single shot to the right cheek, which broke his jaw and several vertebrae. He was pronounced dead at 7:05PM at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
