Description:
On August 25, 1944, Paris was freed from the Nazis. French members of the Resistance started invading Paris a couple of days earlier, freeing French prisoners. The Nazis fought back, setting fire to the Grand Palais, which had been taken over by the Resistance and killing them. On August 25, the French Resistance invaded Paris, liberating it from the Nazis. Over 500 Resistance fighters died in the battle, along with 127 civilians.
