The Yalta conference was also known as the Crimea Conference and code named the Argonaut Conference. The conference was held from the 4th to the 11th of February 1945. The meeting was held near Yalta in Crimea, Soviet Union, within the Livadia, Yusupov and the Vorontsov palaces. The leaders of the United States, United Kingdom and Soviet Union were the ones holding the conference, discussing Germany and the rest of Europe’s post war reorganization. The 3 nations were represented by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Premier Joseph Stalin. The Yalta conference was the second of the “Big Three” conferences.

During the conference they agreed on Germany’s surrender and free elections in western Europe. They also agreed to enter the Asian war against Japan. Most of these agreements were kept secret until after the Cold War.
